The course will include laboratory exercises. The student will learn the basis of the methodologies necessary to separate and purify organic compounds, such as the separation of an organic mixture by extraction, the selection of chromatographic techniques on the basis of the nature of the compounds to be separated, the selection of the appropriate crystallization solvent or the best distillation approach. Concerning the instrumental chromatographic methodologies, the student will receive the basic concepts to design the analysis of an organic mixture. On the other hand, a conceptual approach will be provided for the development of chemical analysis of organic compounds, with a special focus on those having a pharmaceutical interest.
